Wanna talk? poster

Summary

Streets, signs, doors, walls, the drawings and symbols on them: they change every day. What do they tell us now?

Wanna talk? is a poetic visual essay that invites viewers to build new meanings from fragments of place and traces of meaning, merging them into new stories about what these places were, or could be.

Made with collage techniques from scanned photographs, brochures and pieces of the city, the film follows two artists as they constantly “fix” or “fill in” their surroundings. Empty pavements receive handmade tiles. Broken blinds are replaced with new ones. We watch these new materials wear down in turn: paint chips away, then painted over again. Even the artists merge into an urban collage, a part of the city that wants to talk back.

The film was then returned to the city, made tangible and material. It was “distributed” through provocative QR codes placed around the globe, in the most unlikely spots, from toilets to galleries, encouraging audiences to meet film in the wild, beyond the constraints of the cinema room.

Wanna talk? is an attempt to visualize the dialogue between the lost and the present, to create…

meaning.

Always in flux, never fixed… never self-contained...
